East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELNFT) commissioned maxwell stanley to undertake a clinical coding audit using qualified Clinical Coding Auditors as part of the Information Governance Assurance Module of the Information Governance Toolkit.
Case Study Approach
Our team of experienced Clinical Coding Auditors met with the client to define the objectives of the audit, including the choice of specialties to focus on and the findings and recommendations from previous audits. maxwell stanley then undertook an audit of 50+ admissions using the NHS Classifications Service Clinical Coding Audit methodology.
During the audit, all clinical coding errors were discussed with ELNFT before final sign-off. An audit report was then written in line with NHS Classification Service Clinical Coding Audit requirements, including appropriate recommendations to the client to ensure continued accurate coding.
